NEW cases of coronavirus have gone up by almost 150 at Oxford University.

In the seven days to Friday, November 6, there were 146 new positive tests confirmed by the university's own testing service.

This was from 429 tests and gave a weekly positivity rate of 34 per cent.

Infections were down, with last week 212 new cases at the university and the second week in a row it had been above 200.

There have been total of 854 since the university started testing on August 20.

It comes after Public Health England confirmed last week that 'a number of' positive Oxford University’s own testing results have only been added to the national total and not local figures.

They were all passed on for contact tracing though.

It has been estimated by Oxfordshire County Council that in the seven days up to October 30 the 206 new cases recorded in Oxford could actually have been as high as 418 once the university's cases are included.

The problem is understood to date back to September 13 and has is expected to be fixed within the next couple of weeks.
