The Friends of Lye Valley group is organising the protest from 10.30am next Wednesday, November 4.

Group chairman Judy Webb said: "Oxford City Council decided in 2016 to build council homes on green space at Warren Crescent.

"Friends of Lye Valley opposed this development, mainly because it will contribute to blocking the slow movement of water through limestone which creates the unique chemistry giving the Lye Valley its very rare plants and status as a Site of Special Scientific Interest."

She added: “Warren Crescent’s green space is not suitable for building.

"Below the metres of loose infill, supporting rock structures are tilted at an angle of 42 degrees downwards into the Lye Valley. Adding weight to this location increases the possibility of a land slip into the valley."

Oxford members of Extinction Rebellion are also planning to join the socially-distanced demonstration next Wednesday on green space in Warren Crescent.
