A second Covid death within a week has been reported at the trust in charge of Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital.

According to NHS England figures the patient died on Thursday, October 22, at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH).

Updated daily, the data includes patients who either tested positive for Covid-19 or where no positive test result was received but Covid-19 was mentioned on their death certificate.

It follows the death of a patient at the trust, which also runs the Churchill Hospital, Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre and Banbury's Horton General Hospital, on October 17.

That had been the first at OUH since the beginning of July and comes as cases of the virus have surged across the country.

The latest death brings the official death toll at the trust to 184 since the pandemic began.

Separate figures from NHS England which are updated weekly, showed as of 8am on Tuesday there were 16 patients at OUH with Covid.

Of these one person was in serious enough condition to need to be on ventilation.
