MORE than £125,000 has been raised for a man who lost his wife of 11 years and three of his children in a horror crash near Oxford.

Thousands of people have donated to a crowdfunding page set up hours after the deaths of 29-year-old Zoe Powell and three of their young kids.

Mrs Powell, along with Phoebe, eight, Simeon, six, and Amelia, four, died on Monday night when their Subaru people carrier crashed with a truck on the A40.

Her husband Josh Powell, 30, and their 18-months-old daughter remain at the John Radcliffe Hospital and are expected to recover.

The JustGiving page that was set up by Andrew Welsford – a colleague of Mr Howell, who is a contractor in the railway industry – states: "This is such a sad and tragic loss for a work colleague on the railway, whose family have been taken from him in a tragic car crash near Oxford.

"Many people in the world of the Orange Army will know Josh and I hope will contribute to give him some financial support when he needs later in recovery."

The crowdfunder raised £125,000 by yesterday morning, well past the initial goal of £1,000, with more than 3,850 people donating.

The tragedy took place just months after the Powell family was forced into temporary accommodation after a fire broke out at their Chinnor home in South Oxfordshire.

Devastated friends and neighbours described the family of six as 'delightful' and their story touched the hearts of many not just in Chinnor but across Oxfordshire.

One supporter Kevin Smallridge commented: "Josh went to university with my son, I was absolutely heartbroken when my son told me about the tragic accident.

"I can only hope that Josh and his daughter are somehow able to start a new life.

"All the money in the world would not change this tragedy but every little helps to start their shattered life again."
