A DRUG dealer caught with a stash of cannabis has been spared jail.

Another man caught with a small quantity of the class B drug during the same incident was handed a fine.

Brian Ramsay, 19, had already admitted one count of possession with intent to supply cannabis.

Darren Timms, 32, pleaded guilty at Oxford Crown Court yesterday to possession of cannabis.

Prosecutors at that hearing said police went to a flat on Harvest Way, Witney, on the morning of May 21 2018.

Ramsay was found inside along with a haul of cannabis as well as a knife stashed in a shoe box.

The total amount of cannabis found at the address was valued at about £4,200.

As police searched the address Timms came back to the flat and officers seized from him a small amount of cannabis.

It was revealed at the sentencing hearing that both men had previous crimes to their name.

Timms has seven previous convictions and Ramsay has 14.

Sentencing, Judge Michael Gledhill QC fined Timms £100 and ordered that he pay a victim surcharge.

Ramsay was made subject to a community order for two years.

As part of that order he must complete 30 rehabilitation activity requirement days as well as pay a statutory victim surcharge.
