A STRANGER asked a primary school pupil to get into his red car.

But when they said no the man pulled out a pocket knife, a school has warned.

It happened outside of the Renyolds Way in Abingdon shops at 4.15pm on Wednesday afternoon.

The child, from Thameside Primary School, then reportedly ran and got help from friends in the park who then went back to school.

The assistant headteacher at Fitzharry's told parents in an email this morning, which has been seen by this paper, that the police have been told and are 'dealing with the incident'.

Pupils at the school will be told this afternoon so they can 'continue to be vigilant' when walking home.

Mr Willams said: "Please can you continue to support these key messages at home and encourage students wherever possible to travel to and from schools with others."

Yesterday children were reminded about 'stranger danger' after a 'suspicious' man starting speaking to children outside of schools in Witney.

He had pulled up outside of Witney Community Primary School in a blue Toyota Corolla on Monday afternoon, hours after he was spotted outside of Madley Brook Primary School at the morning drop-off.

But on both occasions he drove away when a police car appeared and when a parent confronted him.

Last week a girl at Fitzharry's was also asked to get into a stranger's car on her walk into school.

The Year 9 pupil was left 'very shaken' but 'unharmed' when she was approached by an Asian man in a dark grey saloon car with blacked-out windows.
