A BICESTER coach has launched a new football academy for youngsters in the town.

Children have the opportunity to boost their skills with the help of 30-year-old resident Jamie Cassidy.

He has set up the Jamie Cassidy Soccer Academy with under seven year old and under eight year old teams.

Not only will young footballers train with coaching staff but also play against other club academies across the area.

Players for the Jamie Cassidy Soccer Academy were selected earlier this year after a trial day in Buckingham.

More than 50 children attended, with many playing for local club teams. After the trial, the coronavirus pandemic delayed the launch of the academy, but it is now ready for the new season.

For those who missed the first trial day, Mr Cassidy is planning to launch more trials soon to grow the current teams and also have new teams in other age groups including the under 9s and under 11s.

Mr Cassidy, who is a UEFA B Licensed Coach an ha eleven years of coaching experience, said: “I love to teach kids football, it’s what I do. Our new academy allows me and our other experienced coaches to work with a select group of talented local children and help them continue to improve their footballing knowledge.

Oxford Mail:

“The plan for the academy is to aid the development of local footballing talent and have an elite team from Bicester which will play academy teams connected to professional football clubs.”

The coach also offers a number of football sessions for children including his Mini Skills Session for 4-6 year olds, Super Kickers Sessions for over seven year olds, Goalkeeper Training and also runs school holiday football camps.
