This beautiful Red Kite pair were captured by Oxford Mail Camera Club member Anne Rixon for this week's 'new beginnings' theme.

Ms Rixon said she snapped the Kites just as they were ready to go out hunting for their chicks.

The Red Kite is a protected bird which was driven to extinction in England by human persecution by the end of the nineteenth century.

Red Kites were reintroduced between 1989 and 1994 into the Chilterns by the RSPB.

The Kites were taken from Spain, imported and released into the area and now you can hear their distinctive call across Oxfordshire.
