A LOCAL hero with a brain injury set himself out a physically-demanding task to raise money for charity.

Inspired by Captain Tom Moore, who raised £39m for the NHS, Witney resident Michael Bedford decided he wanted to ‘do his bit’ for people during the pandemic.

His personal mission was to do as many rides as possible around The Oval in Rose Hill to raise money for the NHS and Dogs Trust.

Mr Bedford, who has severely impaired mobility when he is not on his trike, managed to complete 31 laps.

He was cheered on by his neighbours and housing officer Erika Hulbert and housing outreach worker John Bennett, who helped him set up the fundraiser.

Mr Bedford lives at Advance Housing and Support centre on Witan Way.
