Bucks has many lockdown tales to tell but which are your favourites?

As Prime Minister Boris Johnson declared we were going into lockdown for three weeks from March, 23, who knew what life had in store for us all.

Six months on, we’ve taken a look back at some of Buck's biggest, strangest and down-right outrageous moments:

1. Stockpiling pandemonium

Bucks Free Press:

Back in March, the fury of the nation presided over the empty shelves of our supermarkets.

From toilet roll to pasta, supermarkets including Tesco in Loudwater nearly ran out of the daily essentials.

As a result, supermarket restrictions were put in place to limit the number of people from a single household entering, the number of items someone could buy and the times in which we could visit the stores.

2. The triumphant two-year-old who raised more than £5k for charity

Bucks Free Press:

Two-year-old Vincenzo Passaro who has to walk with a walking frame raised money for Thomley.

The charity looks after people who have both physical and mental disabilities in the county and the surrounding areas.

The toddler walked 26 steps as part of the 2.6 challenge, a fundraising campaign to help charities during the height of lockdown.

3. Clapping for our wonderful NHS, with a dazzling display by the police force

Bucks Free Press:

Clap for our carers ran during the height of lockdown and saw us all stand outside our homes or clap out the windows on Thursdays at 8pm.

The spectacular show of appreciation continued for 10 weeks and returned on July 5, the initiative returned to mark the 72nd anniversary of our NHS.

4. The £30 fine for breaking lockdown rules was the talk of the county

When the government announced the lockdown on March 23, they also stated there would be fines for people who did not comply with the rules.

However, the £30 fine was deemed much too low by the people of High Wycombe and the surrounding areas.

Asif Nasar said: “It should be a £500 quid fine. Used as a deterrent."

Whilst Noelle Wright said: "Wish it was more. I’m sure it will be very soon.”

The current fine for breaking government guidance on the coronavirus is £100.

5. The Bucks firefighters that joined in with the TikTok 'Stay at Home Challenge'

Bucks Free Press:

Firefighters from High Wycombe Fire Station caught our attention after a video of them doing the ‘Stay at Home Challenge’ was viewed nearly 120,000 times.

The video shows the firefighters dancing to The Weeknd’s, ‘Blinding Lights’ in front of a fire engine that had its beacons flashing.

6. Celebrity chef Tom Kerridge launched a service to deliver thousands of free meals to the most vulnerable

Bucks Free Press:

The chef, along with his Pub in the Park festival team and entrepreneurs Chris Hughes and Andy Agar, launched the ‘Meals From Marlow’ not-for-profit initiative on April 2.

The first 500 meals were distributed to local healthcare workers, frontline workers and vulnerable people in the town and surrounding areas.

The scheme was an overwhelming success, with more than £180,000 raised and 75,000 meals delivered.

Meals From Marlow became an official charity.

7. Schools, universities and businesses donates thousands of items of personal protective equipment to help the NHS through the worst of the pandemic

Bucks Free Press:

There was a shortage of vital PPE when it was needed most - so kindhearted pupils, teachers, workers and employers sprang into action, making and donating thousands of vital items to Bucks hospitals.

8. When thousands showed their appreciation for our vital keyworkers with incredible displays

Bucks Free Press:

Including an overhaul of the 'Give Peas A Chance' M25 bridge with a message of thanks to the NHS.

Posters also appeared outside our hospitals, including Stoke Mandeville, on people's homes, schools and businesses - and even on the roads
