A FOX was rescued after getting its head stuck in an Oxford wheelchair lift.

The RSPCA was called on Sunday to free the animal, who had been desperately trying to get free, but could not escape.

RSPCA Inspector Andy Eddy said: “When I arrived this poor fox was distressed and exhausted from struggling to escape with no success.

Oxford Mail:

“I think he must have tried to jump up through a glass plate to the top level and bounced back and had fallen with his head down the edge of the side rail."

He added; “Thankfully, he was spotted before it was too late and I was able to carefully lift him out.

"He had a swollen throat and was unsteady but with a bit of TLC at a wildlife hospital he’ll be fine and be able to be released back into the wild where he belongs.”
