They are being encouraged to send in photos of their cars - and other vehicles - and explain why they are so proud of them.

But this week two owners have come up with something a little bit different.

Josh McGowan, from Abingdon, has sent in some pictures of his pride and joy - an Audi S3 which cost him £11,000.

The driver said he has since spent a further £15,000 in the past year customising the vehicle.

And the car is an important reminder of the good times he spent with his father, who recently died.

He said: “This is my Audi S3 show car that I have built to attend all round Europe and the UK.

“The plan was to go to international shows with my father. However, due to him recently passing away I have decided to dedicate the whole entire build of the car to him and take this across Europe to represent and show it off.”

The eye-catching vehicle has eaten up thousands of pounds with extensive upgrades.

These include inside a Pioneer 230 DAB Apple car radio, carbon door card inserts, custom boot build with hard lines and a 12-inch ground zero Subwoofer and ground zero amplifier.

Mr McGowan has also given the engine a boost too, with a full turbo back 3-inch system - custom exhaust with quad carbon 4-inch tips, a pro alloy uprated front intercooler and a Helix 6 paddle SMF clutch kit.

Sarah Brown, from Littlemore, has sent in pictures of her husband Roger’s car - an ADO16.

She said: “We live in Littlemore and come from two generations of Cowley factory workers.

She said it was made in 1968 and added: “Not sure if it was built in Oxford but this is our our third one which we acquired around eight years ago.

“My husband, Roger spends a lot of time tinkering with it and is a member of the 1100 club. “

Since 2001, BMW has built the new Mini at the factory and it is also the home of the visitor centre museum which takes a detailed look at the history of the old Mini designed by Alec Issigonis.

Last month car enthusiast Tanya Field said she wanted people to send in pictures of themselves with their cars.
