TWO stolen motorbikes that were abandoned in woods in south Oxfordshire were returned to their owners.

An 'eagle-eyed' passer-by who spotted the vehicles on Thursday alerted Thames Valley Police.

PCSOs Selene Moquet and Susie Morley located the vehicles in woodland near to the allotments.

The two officers managed to push the motorbikes through the woods and onto Peep-O-Day Lane, just off Drayton Road.

After running the plate, they discovered the bikes had both been reported stolen from the local area the previous night, so the owners were swiftly informed of the good news.

TVP South Oxfordshire posted the photo on Facebook and many praised the public for locating the bikes.

One resident Lydia Hopgood commented: "Well done to the passer-by for their awareness and well done to the PCSOs for shifting the bikes, they look heavy."

The force appealed for witnesses with information that may help the investigation into these thefts then.
