A MAN has died after a crash on the A420 this morning.

At around 5.15am, the 59-year-old man from Gloucestershire was hut by a white VW Crafter Van heading towards Faringdon.

Police closed the roads in both directions for five hours and drivers were sent on a diverted route to the A415.

Oxford Mail:

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his family has been told.

They are being supported by specially trained police officers.

This crash is just one of several very serious accidents on the stretch of road in the last 12 months.

In December, White Hart pub worker Conor Johnson died after crossing the road at night.

Tom Glancy also died when his white transit van crashed with a lorry on the road at 3am.

Investigating officer, PC Julia Stroud, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a tragic incident in which a man has sadly died and I am appealing for anyone who saw what happened to please come forward.

“I would also ask any motorist who was in the local area to check any dash-cam footage in case it captured the incident or anything that may help the investigation.

“Anyone with information can contact police by calling 101, or making a report online, quoting reference 43200272622.”
