PLANS to build more than 150 student rooms in Headington have been withdrawn.

The application, which was first submitted in March 2019, sought to create six accommodation blocks off Jack Straw's Lane and Marston Road.

Under the proposals, the existing carpenter's yard buildings would have been demolished but St Michael and All Angels church was unaffected.

Five of the residential blocks would have comprised 153 en-suite student rooms, with the other reserved for five private homes and office space.

One of the buildings was set to have space for 120 bikes, with only disabled parking and spaces for private residents available in the car-free scheme.

The application was revised several times after discussions with Oxford City Council and other stakeholders to comply with the recently-adopted Oxford Local Plan.

No reason was given publicly for the withdrawal.
