A PUBLIC consultation has been launched seeking views on a new garden village in Oxfordshire.

West Oxfordshire District Council (WODC) launched the eight-week consultation on Friday for the massive development at Eynsham, now known as Salt Cross garden village.

Once adopted, the Area Action Plan (AAP) will be used alongside the Local Plan and Eynsham Neighbourhood Plan to determine future proposals at the garden village.

The AAP will set out what Salt Cross will look like and how it will function.

Once the consultation is complete, the AAP will be submitted for indepedent examination, with a view to it being adopted early next year.

WODC councillor Jeff Haine, cabinet member for strategic planning, said: “The AAP is a vital part of the process in seeing the garden village become a reality.

“We would like to hear from as many individuals and groups as possible as we continue to shape our vision for Salt Cross.”

The site was one of 14 garden villages endorsed by the Government in 2017 to meet the UK’s housing need.

Property company Grosvenor Britain and Ireland was appointed in the same year to bring forward a planning application.

Salt Cross will include 2,200 homes, new primary and secondary schools, sports facilities, parks and an employment park, which is designed to attract advanced manufacturing businesses.

The settlement will be located to the north of the A40, near Eynsham.
