With a bank holiday weekend upon us, it's a great opportunity to go outdoors and make the most of the end of summer.

We’ve compiled a list of some of the best beer gardens in Oxford.

Know one we've missed off? Let us know in the comments.

The Fishes

North Hinksey Village, Oxford OX2 0NA, 01865 249796

This glorious garden is perfect for groups of friends and families alike, with its huge open space and lots of area for games to keep the little ones occupied. Remember current guidelines, however, and only meet with groups of up to six people if they do not live with you.

There is on-site parking and the pub backs on to an ambling stream, be sure to get here early to secure a good spot in the garden.

The Perch

Binsey, Oxford, OX2 0NG, 01865 728891

The Perch can be found nestled close to Port Meadow and the River Thames, with wandering willow trees and a beautifully landscaped garden.

Although the pub offers plenty of seating, due to social distancing measures it’s recommended you book ahead or turn up early to nab a table.

The Trout Inn

Wolvercote,  OX2 8PN, 01865 510930

The self-proclaimed, up-scale gastropub has views across the Thames and even has visits from roaming peacocks.

The price for a sarnie starts at £8.95 and includes a bowl of fries, salad or soup.

An alternative reality version of the pub appears in Philip Pullman's book La Belle Sauvage.

The Victoria Arms

Marston, OX3 0QA, 01865 241382

This Victoria Arms is nestled beside the River Cherwell and is a popular pit-stop for punters and boaters.

Serving a European menu, the award-winning pub is also GF accredited by coeliac UK.

Turf Tavern

Holywell Street, OX1 3SU, 01865 243235

Tucked away behind the old city wall, The Turf is a quintessentially British pub.

The large garden is mostly paved and offers plenty of seating, ideal for enjoying their selection of real ales and pub grub.

With foundations dating back to the 13th Century, this historic pub has seen its fair share of interesting punters, including Bill Clinton and former Australian Prime Minister Bob Hawke.
