TWO Oxfordshire locks will be closed for four months while they undergo improvement works as part of a £5.2m maintenance programme by the Environment Agency.
Day’s Lock, near Dorchester and Abingdon Lock will be shut to boaters on the River Thames between November 2 and March 19.
At Day's Lock work will include replacing lock gates and refurbishing parts of the lock chamber and lock surround.

While in Abingdon the existing tail landing is being upgraded to make it more resilient to winter flooding and easier for canoes to get in and out of the water.
Peter Collins, a capital investment programme manager for the Environment Agency, said: “Locks, weirs and other navigation infrastructure make recreational and commercial boating on the Thames possible.
“This multi-million pound investment programme, by the Environment Agency, allows our team of engineers, craftsmen and contractors to ensure that everything remains in safe working order."
