A SCHOOL bus saga continues with concerns there will not be enough places for pupils.

A replacement bus service between Kennington and Matthew Arnold School has capacity for 85 seats.

However, there are worries that there are dozens of students who will need the service.

One parent said: “There’s 85 places but over 150 children needing the service and only one bus has been offered, not two.

“Some parents are now in the situation where they’re having to take their kids to school, which might impact on jobs.

“There’ll be clogging up of the A34 which is a nightmare at the best of times.”

Phil Southall, Oxford Bus Company (OBC) managing director, said: “We understand the changes to the 35A/35B services created a challenging situation, but the community has worked together to achieve a positive outcome that ensures a service can be maintained.

“If there is a commitment from enough additional parents to also pay for the service and a second bus can be filled, then we will happily facilitate an additional service.”

Earlier this year, the pass increased from £381.75 to £700.
