AN OXFORDSHIRE pupil who dropped six grades says the system for this year’s A-level results was ‘unfathomably ridiculous’.

The Cherwell School pupil Idrees Khan, 18, was predicted AAB but was shocked to find his actual grades were BDD.

He said: “I don’t know what sort of joke this is, I feel powerless as I had no input in this, it was just completely at the whim of my teachers and this so-called algorithm.

“It’s just unfathomably ridiculous. If I have to retake in October it’ll be very stressful because it’s been half a year since doing any learning.”

Mr Khan said he had got into his original university of choice.
