THE long wait for results day is over for teenagers across Oxfordshire as students collect their A-Level results this morning.
In this most unusual of academic years, no final exams were sat due to the coronavirus pandemic.
With no final exams to sit, a new way to grade students was formulated.
The Department for Education says that for each student, schools and colleges have provided a ‘centre assessment grade’ for each subject – the grade they would be most likely to have achieved had exams gone ahead – taking into account a range of evidence including non-exam assessment and mock results.

Schools and colleges are handing out results in different ways this year, some opting to allow students to come in and collect results, while other institutions are holding virtual results days with grades emailed to pupils.
With this in mind, and Covid-19 measures in place at schools and colleges, reporting on results day will be a little different this year.
Throughout the morning, the Oxford Mail will be running a live blog on the website, keeping you updated with how students in the county are getting on.
