AN OXFORDSHIRE woman celebrated her 100th birthday with an afternoon tea and a trip in a car two years younger than herself.
Daphne Joslin turned 100 on Saturday and was joined by her friends and relatives.
The Tetsworth resident sat in a chair in front of her house, holding her birthday card from the Queen, as neighbours and those close to her gathered at 3pm to sing her a happy birthday.
She was then whisked away in a 1922 Bullnose Morris, and went to the Haseley Plough for afternoon tea, cakes and champagne.
Her daughter, Sarah Broad, also celebrated her birthday on Saturday as she turned 67.
Mrs Broad said: “The village collected a wonderful amount of hampers and flowers for her.
“People from her past who used to live next door dropped by to say hello, there was so many people, she was overwhelmed but had a wonderful time.”
Mrs Joslin was born in India, before spending time at schools in France and Italy.
