Key workers at the RSPCA have responded to 100,000 incidents and more than 800 of these incidents were in Oxfordshire.
The animal welfare charity’s frontline officers, animal carers and vets have continued to rescue, treat and care for animals in need over lockdown.
During lockdown RSPCA officers have responded to 808 incidents in Oxfordshire which is the equivalent to six incidents a day.

The global pandemic has had a huge impact on the on the charity’s finances and funding is needed to help them continue to rescue animals and look after the 6,381 animals in its care across England and Wales.
The charity’s staff were quickly designated as key workers so they could continue to respond to emergencies and rescue animals from cruelty and neglect.
This included collecting animals from the homes of people who had been admitted to hospital with Covid-19.
The organisation also quickly responded to changing procedures and protocols in light of the global pandemic.
