Fiona Ross, who works in international outreach for the Royal Shakespeare Company, is the behind the project.

REDISCOVER OXFORD: It’s time to enjoy and explore our amazing city

She said: “The lack of work with theatres closed led to a decision that rather than sitting around, we would tour residential gardens.

“We thought that people wanted a bit of a laugh so it’s very light, and we’re all practised actors with lots of experience.”

Sally Coles, of Church Enstone, hosted the performance in her garden.

Oxford Mail:

She said: “People really loved it, it was very witty and clever. I was sat at the back and people had a grin the whole time,” she said.

“It’s a great idea, plus the weather was fantastic for it, and many thanks to the airfield as no planes flew over during the performance.”

Five actors from the theatre company will be performing the show 27 times throughout the month and September, as far as Devon and Somerset.

Audiences are spaced out to adhere to social distancing.
