STUDENTS at City of Oxford College have been warned of strict new rules coming into force when it reopens next month.

With a new academic year set to start in September, the college has emailed students, setting out what it expects from them upon their return.

Many pupils will not have been in a classroom environment since March, therefore the college has also moved to reassure them.

In order to reduce risk, students have been told to only go to college for timetabled classes and be on time.

They must go straight to class and stay in their bubble while in college.

When classes finish, students are advised to avoid waiting for friends and go straight home.

Safe social distancing will be in place with signage around campus, with students expected to adhere to these guidelines.

When entering class, students are to use hand sanitiser and regularly wash their hands throughout the day.

If a student feels unwell, they must leave campus immediately, avoiding contact with others, and contact a member of the safeguarding team via phone or email.

The Recharge cafes will be open across the college’s campuses, however only for takeaway food.

Students are welcome to take their own food to campus however this must be eaten outside if the weather is suitable or within a classroom to ensure everyone can properly social distance.

Finally, students were reminded to take their own stationery with them, including pens, pencils and notepad, in order to reduce the possible spread of infection.

The college is based in Oxford city centre, in Oxpens Road, with its specialist technology campus located in Blackbird Leys.

The college is due to hold an open event on October 17 for students starting college in September 2021, with registration for the event opening soon.
