A HOSPITAL radio station has worked with a theatre production group to keep care home residents connected with their families during coronavirus.

Radio Horton was approached by Voices Across Time, which had been delivering a community outreach programme at homes before the outbreak but had to stop to ensure social distancing.

Moving the endeavour to radio, the show/podcast called Bring Me Sunshine is now distributed to local care homes, in addition to being broadcast for patients at Banbury's Horton General Hospital.

Bring Me Sunshine includes songs to sing along to and gentle activities which listeners can take part in from their homes or hospital beds.

Each week, a topical theme is set for the show such as travel, dancing, and food.

It also features music requests from residents and patients as well as voicemail messages from their friends and family members.

Until recently visitors have been banned at hospitals and care homes to protect vulnerable people from infection.

People wishing to leave voicemail messages for family members or loved ones, friends or even a member of staff they would like to thank, can do so by calling 01295 404104 or emailing studio@radiohorton.co.uk.
