A DOG was picked up and thrown against the wall by armed men wearing balaclavas.

In a ‘frightening’ burglary on Sunday night two men, holding an ‘old fashioned’ claw hammer and ‘stun gun’, broke into a house on Mickle Way in Forest Hill.

They started threatening a man and woman, who are in their thirties, before repeatedly hitting the man over the head and whacking the woman’s arm with a hammer – causing cuts and bruises.

They then went for the dog before rummaging through the house.

The iPhone has since been found.

The first man is described as mixed race, around 30-years-old and 6ft tall.

He is slim and at the time was wearing black tracksuit bottoms, a thick black coat, black sports gloves and a woollen balaclava with two eye holes.

The second man, carrying the hammer, is around 5ft 10ins and stocky.

He had a ‘heavy’ northern accent and at the time was wearing black tracksuit bottoms and thick black coat zipped up to his neck.

He had on black gloves and a similar balaclava with two eye holes.

The investigating officer, Lara Necrews, based at Abingdon police station, said: ““This was a frightening experience for the victims, and I am appealing to anyone who has any information to come forward.

“I am also appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and who saw or heard anything suspicious to contact us.”
