AHEAD of Oxford United’s play-off final clash with Wycombe tomorrow night, the leader of Oxford City Council has a message for fans.

Susan Brown said: “I know Oxford United fans will want to get behind our team on Monday evening, and I hope there will be plenty to celebrate.

“When we were promoted to League One four seasons ago, the council organised an open top bus parade through the city, and players and supporters celebrated together long into the night.

“Sadly, that won’t be possible this year but that doesn’t mean we’re not right behind our team. We won’t be pitchside on Monday, but we can all pitch in and do our bit by staying safe and watching the game at home.

“I’m sure lots of you will want to go to the pub for the match. If you do, please remember the pandemic hasn’t gone away and make your match plans with this in mind – book ahead, be careful and maintain social distancing.

“If you do go out, enjoy yourself, but also keep your distance, look out for each other and protect your community. We want this to be a night to celebrate, not regret. Come on you Yellows!”
