MORE than 300 people walked along a popular footpath in land that could be concreted over.

Villagers showed their opposition to plans to build warehouses and a lorry park on 200 acres of South Oxfordshire's countryside including the Waterstock Golf Course site.

A total of 324 people, including councillors and conservation trust representatives, took part in the walk on Wednesday.

Chairman of Waterstock Parish Council, Michael Tyce, said: “A distribution centre and lorry hub is an entirely improper use of Green Belt land.

"The site is currently performing the desired Green Belt purpose of outdoor sport and recreation, all of which would be irrevocably (and unsustainably) lost to future generations if the development went ahead."
