A COMMUNITY group is hoping to raise £3,000 to fund a summer school for struggling children in August.
Sue Holden, company secretary for the Barton Community Association, said: “We’re really on a roll with the summer school now.
“We’re more or less there with the staffing and we’re now looking for all sorts of stationery as that will save a large amount of money if we can get it.

“The big thing for us is making sure we’ve got enough money in the pot but it doesn’t matter how small the donation is as every penny will count.
“When local people donate, it puts a value to the project.
“Whatever we get will help out but the £3,000 target will cover towards staff costs - quality staff who can teach the children - and cleaning costs too as there’ll be a cleaner in throughout the day.”
It is hoped the school will run from Monday, August 3 from Monday to Friday for four weeks.
