Wallingford's BunkFest has been cancelled with organisers saying it would be 'impossible' to hold the festival with social distancing in place.

BunkFest 2020 was due to be held on September 4-6 but has been cancelled this year due to Covid-19 and social distancing measures. However, organisers plan for BunkFest to be back in full force for 2021.

Festival directors said: "With these in place (social distancing) it would be impossible to hold BunkFest in its usual form, so it is with great regret and sadness that we have taken the decision to cancel this year’s festival."

Directors added: "We appreciate that this will be a great disappointment to many people, but we hope that you will all understand that it is our responsibility and duty to ensure the safety and well-being of all those who attend the festival, which at the current stage and in all probability in the foreseeable future of this crisis cannot be guaranteed with any certainty.

"It has been reported that some music festivals will not survive as a result of the Covid-19 crisis, but rest assured that BunkFest is in rude health, and will return in 2021 bigger and stronger with planning already having started to make this happen. Until then keep safe and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2021."
