BOLTON Town Hall was bathed in purple last night in solidarity with George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter movement.
Buildings across the country were lit up in tribute to Mr Floyd, an unarmed African-American who died after a white police officer knelt on his neck for nine minutes.
Civic buildings across all 10 boroughs were lit up purple.
“Recent and sad events in America are a testament to why we must stand together with all those who reject violence and oppose racism in all its forms," said Cllr David Greenhalgh, leader of Bolton Council and Tony Oakman, chief executive, in a joint statement.
Black Lives Matter protests have taken place in the UK, with demonstrations in London and Manchester.
