What about us? Those of us and according to the Government there are 1.5 million plus who have to shield. Are we forgotten? It seems that way.

What about us? Next week schools are re-opening for reception and year 1 and 6 children no doubt the rest before the summer school holidays just to ease them back in, but social distancing off course.

What about us? Go out as many times as you like, you can drive for your exercise and apparently it was ok for a family to drive to Durdle Door but complain on tv that there were to many people there, but yes you can drive to exercise. 90 minutes is probably ok.

What about us? Dominic Cummings can do a round trip of 50 minutes with poor eyes to see if it’s ok to travel 260 miles, but it was to a beauty spot so must be ok.

What about us? Going on to the beaches Bournemouth and Southend to name a couple and shown how not to social distance or is that a trick of the camera.

What about us? When will those of us who are shielding to stay safe, only just over 4 weeks to go then we are free, or are we? What about us?

I CANNOT recommend a more suitable book to read at this time than the Tao Te Ching (81 verses by Lao Tzu, beautifully translated by Ralph Alan Dale, Watkins Publishing) to understand where mankind may have been going wrong and why we might be experiencing so many difficulties.

Lao Tzu is said to have lived in the sixth century BC.

I WAS very interested and delighted to see the photo of Cambridge Street in your Remember When article in today's Oxford Mail, although it does bring back bitter memories of how the City Council coldly destroyed an entire community.

I was born at number 39 Speedwell Street on the corner of Cambridge Street south in 1936. I have not seen this particular photo before and would like to know if there are any others available of the area preferably prior to the destruction. I have found one taken further down Speedwell Street but live in hope of finding some more hopefully with a clear picture of the house.

IT WAS interesting to read about the life of Monty Hillier, in Memory Lane (Oxford Mail, May 11).

A photo of him meeting fellow three-mile champion Mike Dunhill on the Iffley Road track, reminded me of the first year Matthew Arnold School, Cumnor, opened. My last year before leaving school I attended the first term at Matthew Arnold when it opened. Mike Dunhill was the PE teacher.
