The Didcot Railway Centre has launched a £60,000 appeal to help celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Great Western Society in 2021.
The Society's first locomotive, GWR 0-4-2T No 1466, is scheduled to return to steam as part of the celebrations, but the centres income has been affected by the enforced closure.

Manager, Graham Hukins said: “We’re determined to return 1466 to steam, ready to take her rightful place at the heart of the Society’s 60th Anniversary celebrations next year, but the current enforced closure means we cannot fund the work from admission income so we’re asking for some help to get the delightful, octogenarian tank engine back on the rails.”
