LANDLORDS in West Oxfordshire with a property available for private letting are being urged to get in touch with the district council to help those in need.

Whether the property is available immediately or in the coming year, West Oxfordshire District Council (WODC) wants to hear from landlords.

In the district, there are currently 39 households living in temporary accommodation.

WODC said that by renting through them, landlords can enjoys benefits such as no agency fees and a free property assessment, whilst tenants can be supported by the council with rent in advance and a deposit.

Councillor Jeff Haine, cabinet member for housing, said: “If you’re a landlord with property available for private letting, there’s never been a better time to work with our private rented team here at WODC.

“If you have an empty property this scheme will help you bring in an income and you’ll be able to make a real difference to the lives of local people who’ve been struggling with the knock on effects of this pandemic.”

The council said it can also help to bridge any communication gaps and help tenants navigate the benefits system and gain employment.

Alternative Payment Arrangements can be set up to ensure rent is paid directly to landlords.
