FIREFIGHTERS conquered ‘Mount Everest’, the planet’s highest mountain, and raised over £3,000 for charity whilst doing so.
The team at RAF Brize Norton - fuelled by bananas and Lucozade - climbed a 10.5m ladder in round robin fashion, all in aid of NHS Charities Together.
They managed to scale the 8,848m ‘Everest’, all whilst carrying full fire kit, and an additional weight of 25kg in the form of a breathing apparatus set.
The team took turns climbing up the ladder at the breathing apparatus training facility, before descending the rear of the building and doing it all over again.

The goal of eight hours was smashed as the final finishing time came in at one minute shy of five hours.
A spokesperson for RAF Brize Norton said: “Overall, this was a very successful event.
“The show of camaraderie and resilience that each individual showed to reach our goal was credit to our fire crew as a whole.
“The work that our brave men and women are carrying out in extremely testing times was a subject very close to all our hearts.”
Money was raised via a JustGiving page, which can be accessed at: justgiving.com/fundraising/brizefire
