A POPULAR park cafe in Oxfordshire has partially reopened, following easing of the lockdown rules.

The Coffee Shed in The Leys, Witney is back serving its loyal fanbase its favourite treats, after reopening yesterday.

Saphron Driskell, assistant manager, said: “We had to close when lockdown was announced as it wouldn’t have been right to stay open.

“Now things are starting to get a little eased, we felt it was the right time to reopen.

“We wanted to make sure we were 100 per cent ready so we’ve been taking things slow and steady.

“People are following the rules we’ve brought in - we’ve got a protective screen at the hatch, we’re not allowing anyone inside the cafe unless they’re picking up food and there are cones in place to separate people in the queue.

“With only two of us in, we’ve reduced the menu slightly but we’re doing what people want - coffees, ice cream, and sandwiches and wraps to grab and go.”

The cafe is also hoping to start selling pizzas at the weekend.

Miss Driskell, who has been at the cafe since it opened in June 2015, added: “Our customers are so happy we’re back and they’ve been saying that the park hasn’t been the same without us.

“Kids love that they can get an ice cream again.

“It’s a day by day process looking at how things go.”

Tennis courts by the cafe are back open to the public, however the adventure golf course remains closed yet the cafe is hoping to reopen it shortly.
