A MAN caught with hundreds of pounds' worth of Class A drugs after a police raid has been jailed.

Khassimo Munye had already admitted two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs - crack cocaine and heroin.

The 20-year-old of Winifred Road, Dagenham, appeared at Oxford Crown Court to be sentenced yesterday.

Outlining the case, prosecutors said Munye was caught with a stash of illicit drugs after officers raided a property in Banbury.

That search took place at an address on Merton Street on January 6 last year at about 7.20pm.

Munye was inside and on investigation he was found to have on him a haul of Class A drugs.

The wraps of drugs found in his possession were valued at about £640 if sold on the street.

Police also found further drugs and two ‘burner’ mobile phones – pre-paid disposable phones used by drug dealers because they are harder to trace.

In mitigation Munye's defence barrister Clea Topolski said that he was ‘acting under direction’ and ‘with no influence on those below him.’

She added that there was ‘an element of pressure and coercion’ and that her client played a ‘lesser role’ in the drug dealing enterprise.

The court also heard that Munye had served a substantial amount of time in prison already while he was on remand for these offences and awaiting sentence.

Sentencing, Judge Ian Pringle QC said it was accepted that Munye was at the address ‘delivering drugs’ and not actively dealing them.

He said the offences merited a jail sentence and warned him that further offences of drug dealing as an adult would inevitably lead to longer jail terms.

Munye was jailed for a total of 28 months for the two counts and he must pay a statutory victim surcharge.
