Schools are the heart of our communities and so today we cannot begin to imagine the grief being felt by pupils, parents and teachers associated with Henry Box School in Witney.
As if one tragedy was not bad enough, two in the space of 24 hours is unthinkable.
The school opens its gates today mourning the loss of former technology teacher Christine Diacon and teenager Andrew Edwards in road accidents.
While the circumstances of the two incidents remain unclear, it is - obviously - a huge loss both for the families and wider school community. Our thoughts and prayers are with them all.
