FIREFIGHTERS from two fire stations raced to a residency in Banbury to tackle a blaze this morning.

Crews from Banbury and Deddington arrived at the home in Twyford where they were met with heavy smoke coming from the building where the occupier was woken up by their smoke alarms and closed the door to the kitchen on their way out of the building.

Four firefighter were sent in to tackle to flames that had engulfed a corner in the kitchen where the dishwasher was.

It is believed that the fire was caused by an electrical fault and the occupier's quick actions prevented the flames spreading.
