A MAN caught with a stash of vile images of child sex abuse has been given a date for his final sentencing.

Prosecutors alleged that Francis Goffe had hundreds of banned images depicting children.

The 66-year-old of Croft Road, Thame, is charged with three counts of making indecent images.

It is claimed that he had 182 images in the most severe category - A, as well as 99 in category B.

It is further said that he had 791 images in category C.

The crimes all took place in Thame between 2012 and 2019.

His attendance was excused at a plea hearing held at Oxford Crown Court today.

At that hearing his defence barrister, Guy Wyatt, said that his client intended to plead guilty to all three counts.

After the pleas were entered on his behalf a sentencing date was pencilled in for next month.

Presiding Judge Ian Pringle QC agreed to adjourn the case so that a pre-sentence report can be prepared.

That report, compiled by the National Probation Service, will explore all sentencing options.

Judge Pringle warned Goffe that adjourning for a report was no indication as to the likely sentence.

Goffe will be sentenced at the same court on May 26.
