AN INQUEST into the death of a man who was assaulted in Wood Farm last year has been shelved to give police more time to investigate the details.

Robin Williamson, who lived on Awgar Stone Road in Headington, has been named as the victim in the attack.

It is thought that he was assaulted on October 27, with some type of weapon, either outside the shops on Atkyns Road or in Wood Farm Woods.

But it wasn't until he went to hospital on November 4 that the incident was reported to police.

Six days later, on November 10, at around 4pm doctors at the John Radcliffe Hospital confirmed his death – though the cause has not yet been established.

At a pre-inquest review at Oxford Coroners Court on Wednesday the assistant coroner for the county Nicholas Graham said that the victim was a single man, born in Wimbledon on May 10, 1979.

He added: "Police are giving consideration to a prosecution in this matter...because there is a criminal investigation I will adjourn the case."

At the time, a boy, aged 15, was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and he remains on police bail until September 5.

Another teenager, aged 17, was also arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and is on police bail until May 15.

A third person, a man aged 27, was arrested on conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm with intent to cause injury and has since been released under investigation.

Another man, a 21-year-old, was also arrested on suspicion of manslaughter but has since been released with no further action.
