A MAN charged with wounding a woman in an attack at an address in Wantage has been given a date for his trial.
Prosecutors allege that Risman Naitsoka unlawfully and maliciously wounded his victim with intent to do her grievous bodily harm.
It is claimed that the incident of violence took place on November 5 last year at an address in the Wantage area.
The 39-year-old of Grove Street, Wantage, denies any wrong-doing.
A trial had been scheduled to take place at Oxford Crown Court in May of this year.
At a hearing held at the same court to discuss the case yesterday that trial date was delayed and pencilled in for an August date instead.
Presiding Judge Maria Lamb said that the original trial date had had to be 'vacated' as a result of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Currently no new jury trials are beginning in courts across the country to ensure social distancing and to tackle the spread of the virus.
A new trial date was instead set for the case which is due to be heard at the same court on August 3.
The trial is expected to last up to three days and Naitsoka was remanded in custody in the meantime.
