NEW FIGURES have revealed the council employees who have made the ‘Town Hall Rich List’ by getting paid more than £100,000.

Five Oxford City Council employees and 20 Oxfordshire County Council employees made the list, which is compiled by the Taxpayers’ Alliance.

The data showed that one of the highest-paid employees at Oxfordshire County Council in 2018-19 received a salary of £185,350 – more than double the wage of an MP.

It formed part of a total remuneration package of £357,160 paid to Peter Clark, who was the council’s chief executive during that period.

That was one of the highest total amounts paid to a council chief in the entire UK that year.

On top of the six-figure salary, Peter Clark benefitted from £17,760 in employer’s pension contributions alongside £154,050 compensation for loss of office.

According to the figures, 19 other employees at Oxfordshire County Council also received six-figure salaries in 2018-19.

Meanwhile at Oxford City Council the highest-paid employee, during the same time period, received a salary of £157,540.

It was also part of a total remuneration package of £189,990 paid to the council’s chief executive Gordon Mitchell.

Mr Mitchell also benefitted from £32,450 in employer’s pension contributions.

The figures revealed only one other employee at Oxford City Council received six-figure salaries in 2018-19.
