A WOMAN has died after a head-on collision involving a BMW and a van.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after a woman who had been seriously injured in a road traffic collision in Abingdon died of her injuries.

The collision occurred at 9.40am on Monday March 16 in Faringdon Road, Gozzards Ford, near Abingdon when a grey BMW car and a white Mercedes Sprinter van collided head-on.

A passenger in the BMW, a 65-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

She passed away at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford on Saturday April 11.

The driver and another passenger in the BMW, a man in his seventies and a woman in her sixties, suffered minor injuries, while the driver of the van, a man in his thirties, was not injured.

Investigating officer PC Ian Stevens of the Joint Operations Unit for Roads Policing based at Bicester, said: “Our thoughts first and foremost are with the family of the woman who has very sadly passed away. They are being supported by specially trained officers at this extremely difficult time.

“We have been investigating the circumstances of this collision thoroughly since it happened, and I am now re-appealing for anybody that was in the area and witnessed the collision to get in touch with police.

“If anyone has dash-cam footage from around the time, please can I urge you to check this and contact us if it has captured anything that can assist the investigation.

“I do believe people will have seen what happened as this collision occurred at a relatively busy time of the day.
