It said he was one of two porters who had died and that both men had been part of the Oxford Filipino community, as well as being married to members of the trust's nursing teams.

A GoFundMe page, created by the Jesus is Lord Church Oxford, has already raised more than £8,000 and revealed Mr King Jr's wife has also recently been taken to hospital with coronavirus symptoms.

It said: "It is with our deepest sorrow that we inform you of the death of our dear brother Oscar King Jr, who tragically passed away due to Covid-19 on April 11, 2020, at the age of 45.

"He was a beloved friend, loving husband, and devoted father to his only daughter, 10-year old Gaby."

It said Mr King Jr had worked as a porter at the John Radcliffe Hospital for more than 10 years 'always doing his job with great enthusiasm and joy'.

The tribute added: "He was a warm soul, full of fun and laughter."

It said his wife Twilight has also been 'suffering severe symptoms' and has 'recently been taken to hospital'.

The church explained: "We have started this fundraiser to sponsor Oscar’s memorial and ease the burden of his family."

A GoFundMe page started by the daughter of Elbert Rico, the other hospital porter who died, has so far raised more than £15,000.
