A FAMILY has transformed their garden into an Easter wonderland to 'make people smile' and with thank key workers for their efforts during the coronavirus.

Mum Rachel Rowland, who lives in Cumnor, shared pictures of the colourful display and said she and her twin 10-year-old daughters Imogen and Freya had repurposed Christmas decorations to create the Spring-themed garden.

She explained: "For the past three years we have decorated our front garden at Christmas and we had seen in the news that people had been putting Christmas decorations up to cheer people up.

"We then decided to adapt our Christmas reindeers into Easter/spring sheep and our Christmas robins in to chicks with material which we found at home."

She added: "We made flowers and vegetables from foam which we also had in the cupboard.

"Lastly, we made the cow with left over material that I had made a pushchair cover with when the girls were small, a stool and a mop.

"The sheep material is a top I made when they were two, to dress them up at Easter."

The mum said the family decided to transform the garden to 'make people smile' when they are out walking past the house for their exercise.

She added: "It has also kept us occupied at home during this stressful time.

"Virtually every time we look out of the window, we see people taking photos and smiling.  We love to see that.  A couple of dogs have barked at the sheep though."

To finish it off, they also made a plaque thanking key workers.

Mrs Rowland said: "We knew at least that refuse collectors, postal workers and delivery drivers would see it and hopefully any other off duty key workers walking by would also see it."
