The Oxford Times Wine Club Tasting was a great success. Here, in one case, are the four top-selling and most popular wines of the evening, as selected by you, the club members. Sandy Ridge Sauvignon Blanc 2007, New Zealand: Proving very popular at the tasting, this ultra-fresh, lively and herbaceous wine has a delicious passion fruit nose, superb clean gooseberry flavours and lovely crisp fruit that virtually jumps out of the glass. It is perfect as an aperitif or with a wide variety of white meats and fish. Gorgeous wine!
Domaine du Mage Le Rosé 2006, France: Made from a mixture of merlot, syrah and tannat grape varieties, this is a lovely fresh-fruit driven modern style of rose with crisp floral aspects, wild raspberry and a delicious touch of spice. Great on its own or with salads or charcuterie.
Broken Earth Shiraz/Cabernet 2006, Australia: Made from a selection of quality vineyards in South Eastern Australia, this is a rich fruit-driven style with classic flavours of pepper and spices, along with fresh menthol eucalyptus and vanilla. A wine to enjoy on its own or with a wide variety of foods - smooth and remarkably easy to drink!
Rio Alto Cabernet Sauvignon 2006, Chile: The most popular wine of the tasting! Blackcurrant fruits with a nice touch of smoke characterise this absolutely superb example of cabernet sauvignon which is grown on the alluvial soils of the Andean foothills. A perfect match for grilled or barbequed meats.
