Children across the borough took part in a virtual PE lesson with a twist on Friday morning as the country faces a coronavirus lockdown.

Joe Wicks, an online nutrition coach, launched his free workouts two weeks ago, and the final session of last week was completed in fancy dress.

On Friday, Joe led the workout while dressed as popular Marvel superhero Spiderman.

He encouraged people to get involved in their own fancy dress, with families across the borough taking up the challenge.

The Langley family from Deane have been taking part in all the sessions, and today was no different.

Mum Leanne, 13-year-old Jack, nine-year-old Aaron, and five-year-old Millie all dressed up to take part.

Leanne said: "We love it, have done it each day.

"It gets us motivated, is something to get ready for, and we'd recommend it to everyone."

People across the country have embraced the videos over the past week to help with educating their children whilst schools are shut due to the virus.

In an announcement on his website, Joe said: "With the schools closed and with us all spending more time at home, it's more important than ever that we keep moving and stay healthy and positive.

"Exercise is an amazing tool to help us feel happier, more energised, and more optimistic.

"The workouts will be fun and suitable for all ages and even adults can get involved.

"You don't need any equipment, just tune in to my YouTube channel at 9am each morning for a 30-minute, fun workout."

During the first week, Joe's sessions had over 13 million views.

Visit The Body Coach on YouTube at 9am from Monday to Friday to take part in Joe's virtual PE lessons.

Lessons are completely free, and can be done without equipment.

The only thing necessary to take part is an internet connection to stream the session.
