AN OXFORDSHIRE medical company is supporting the NHS by supplying more than 10 million finger-pricking devices.

Owen Mumford manufactures the devices, known as Unistick safety lancets, in Woodstock.

They are used for rapid blood testing for conditions such as diabetes and HIV.

Jarl Severn, managing director of Owen Mumford said: “We are glad to be able to play a part in the management of the Covid-19 crisis and I’m grateful to our team for their agility in turning around the production so quickly.

“At the same time, we are continuing to produce injection devices, including pens and auto-injectors, to supply patients with conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis and diabetes as well as the lifesaving Anapen devices for anaphylactic shock for people with extreme allergic reactions.”

Joanne Thompson, regional general manager based at Chipping Norton, added: “We understand the importance of supplying the NHS with the medical devices it needs to treat patients while tackling this crisis.

“Our production and supply teams have worked very hard to get this order out quickly.

“We are all aware of the crucial role that these devices will play and feel very proud that, in our own way, we are making a difference to the medical profession’s bid to combat the virus.”
